Since the QRA is a non-profit corporation dedicated to fostering rowing, we encourage
members to volunteer their services at least one half day per year to the QRA. Putting on QRA
sponsored regattas requires a great deal of volunteer time. Members are also encouraged to
serve on QRA committees and to participate in other QRA events. We have committees
devoted to putting on regattas, maintaining and upgrading equipment, and instruction and
competition. Please let the officers know what volunteer efforts you can be active in.
The QRA expects the following from its rowing members:
- Shall be able to carry boat out of rack to the dock safely, and place it in the water without damaging the boat.
- Shall have adequate rowing skills to get around safely without damaging the boat or endangering others or themselves.
- Shall use the log book whenever a boat leaves the bay.
- Are able to swim at least 50 yards.
- Scullers shall be capable of handling a capsized single without endangering themselves or others.
- Scullers shall be responsible for arranging repair of boat damage and shall pay for damage caused which is beyond expected wear and tear.
- Shall pay dues on time. Rack members must pay within 30 days of receipt of invoice.
All new members, including minor members, must be qualified by Captain's test before using
club equipment. Novices must row at least 60 miles in a trainer or older club boat before
approval can be requested to row the newer racing singles.
